More than 40 percent of the 40,946 registered voters in Medina County have cast ballots in early voting for the Nov. 3 joint general election, county elections administrator Jeanie Longoria told county commissioners at a regular session Monday. Longoria said 16,079 of the ballots were cast in person. Of nearly 800 ballots mailed to voters, 554 had been returned as of Oct. 30.
County Judge Keith Lutz said the county's early voting turnout of 40 percent compares to 39 percent statewide. Lutz said more than seven million early ballots have been cast across Texas. He said Medina County had done well.
Longoria said 65 provisional ballots have been issued so far. Federal law requires that provisional ballots be offered to any voter whose eligibility is uncertain, such as a voter who does not appear on the list of registered voters because of an administrative error.
