Acid Bath, a sludge metal band from Louisiana, will play the Boeing Center at Tech Port on Friday, Nov. 6, as part of a reunion tour. Twin Tribes, Kylesa and The Atlas Moth will open the show.
The band played San Antonio several times during its original run before breaking up in 1997. It released two studio albums, When the Kite String Pops and Paegan Terrorism Tactics. According to the story, the band stayed away from reunions for decades, even as its influence grew in sludge, doom and hardcore circles.
The reunion began when organizers of the Las Vegas festival Sick New World asked original guitarist Sammy Duet about a possible appearance. Duet told the San Antonio Current that the band had discussed the idea before but never seriously considered it. "We're all physically able to play. We're all still here. So we might as well do it before it's too late," he said. The story says the offer came shortly after the death of Tommy Viator, a longtime collaborator who played drums, samples and keyboard for the band.
