New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) said it has reached 1 million work hours without a lost-time incident. The utility said no employee has had a workplace injury that caused missed workdays since June 16, 2025.
NBU said its employees operate and maintain electric, water and wastewater systems that serve more than 70,000 customers. Employees work at electric substations, water and wastewater facilities, construction sites and on roadways, the utility said. Its safety program focuses on hazard recognition, employee training and accountability.
Billy Shearer, NBU safety manager, said the milestone reflects the commitment employees make to safety every day. He credited the utility's "Speak Up, Lead and Care for All" mindset and said employees look out for each other and make safe decisions.
