Operation Pawprints, a Lubbock animal welfare group, is offering to pick up used pumpkins after Halloween and turn them into food for pot belly pigs. Residents who want to take part can send a message through the group's Facebook page.

The group said it was formed to strengthen and support the community by improving animal welfare through education and outreach. It said it will promote spaying and neutering of companion animals and try to spay and neuter as many animals as possible. It also said it wants to help reduce the burden on city and municipal shelters and fill gaps in animal welfare that other organizations cannot meet.

More information is available on the group's official website, operationpawprints.org.
