Democrat Bobby Pulido defeated incumbent Republican Monica De La Cruz by 24 points in Congressional District 15 in South Texas, according to the Texas Observer. The race was held on Election Day, and the report was published the following day.

Pulido is a Tejano musician with about 30 years of touring and two Latin Grammy Awards. The Observer reported that he campaigned with Democratic figures Gina Hinojosa and James Talarico and performed at events including quinceañeras and the Texas Democratic Party convention. He gave a final performance, "La Última Desvelada," at an arena in Edinburg on October 17.

The Observer noted that Donald Trump won the predominantly Hispanic district by 18 points in 2024. De La Cruz was the first Republican to represent the district. The article said De La Cruz had tried in her final weeks to distance herself from immigration raids in South Texas. Pulido, 53, said in a July interview with the Observer that voters ask whether they can trust a candidate to care about them.
