President Donald Trump was in Texas on Tuesday for the third time in a month. He spoke at a campaign rally in Corpus Christi and was set to travel to Lubbock. Trump is supporting Republican Ken Paxton in his U.S. Senate race against Democrat James Talarico. Democrats have not won a statewide election in Texas in more than three decades.

Talarico campaigned in Amarillo on Tuesday, where he criticized what he called a "broken, corrupt" political system. He is also scheduled to appear in Lubbock. Democrat Gina Hinojosa is running against Republican Governor Greg Abbott, who is seeking a fourth term.

Trump is highlighting cultural issues and a military operation in Venezuela, as gas prices rise. Elon Musk has spent heavily to defeat Talarico, and the race is one of the most expensive in the country. The midterm elections are next week.
