Two Tarrant Appraisal District board races will go to a runoff on Dec. 12, according to the report. No candidate in either race won at least half the vote, which state law requires to win outright. In the Place 1 at-large race, Rebecca Hardy led with 40.8% of the vote, and Byron Haynes had 26.14%. In the Place 2 at-large race, Ambika Sharma had 38.51%, and Cary Cheshire had 22.36%. Early voting in the runoff is Nov. 30 through Dec. 8.

In the Place 3 at-large race, John Adams won 58.97% of the vote over incumbent Matt Bryant, who was the only incumbent to run for a seat. There were no other candidates in that race, and Adams will become a TAD director.

Most candidates seeking election favor returning to an annual residential reappraisal policy. The board passed a biennial policy in 2024 and narrowly renewed it in September. The board could next revisit the policy in 2028. Gov. Greg Abbott has proposed reappraisal of all properties once every five years as part of a five-point property tax reform plan that the Texas Legislature will consider in its 2027 session.
