Early voting began Monday for the Nov. 3 midterm election. Texas voters will choose a U.S. senator, a governor, a lieutenant governor and other offices, along with Nacogdoches County races.

In the U.S. Senate race, Democrat James Talarico is running against Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton, who defeated Sen. John Cornyn in the Republican primary. The story says Paxton is trailing Talarico in many polls. Republican Gov. Greg Abbott faces Democrat Gina Hinojosa, and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick faces Vikki Goodwin.

County races include a county commissioner seat in Precinct 2, two justice of the peace races and school board elections in Central Heights and Martinsville ISDs. Elections Administrator Vicki Wood said the county will give "250th Year Anniversary — I Voted" stickers to the first 5,000 voters at early voting.

Early voting runs through Oct. 30 at the courthouse annex, 203 W. Main St.
