The Potter County Republican Party and its chairman, Daniel Rogers, have filed a lawsuit seeking to stop certification of Texas's upcoming election results unless every ballot is counted by hand. The plaintiffs said artificial intelligence could interfere with the election, and that "malicious actors" could compromise the results of Tuesday's elections.

The plaintiffs do not allege that Potter County or Texas election machines have altered votes or miscounted them in past elections. They call for a hand count of every ballot in every precinct in the state before certification. They also allege that voting machines contain components made in China that can be manipulated.

The plaintiffs acknowledge that Texas already requires hand-count audits in elections that use electronic tabulators. They argue that the current requirement does not go far enough. Two national Democratic groups, including the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), have asked to intervene in the lawsuit.
