Meals on Wheels East Texas has started its annual Santas for Seniors holiday gift drive. The group serves nearly 2,000 homebound seniors across East Texas and is collecting new blankets, non-slip socks, and puzzle or word search books for them.
The organization said individuals, churches, businesses, and community groups have supported the drive for the past 14 years. Tiffany McPherson, executive director of Meals on Wheels East Texas, said clients look forward to the gifts each year. "These may seem like simple gifts, but they mean so much more to the people receiving them," she said.
People can take part by buying items directly, or by selecting gifts from the group's online Amazon wish list for shipping to the organization.
