Skillpoint Alliance will celebrate its first graduating class at Howard College in Big Spring on Friday, Oct. 30. The ceremony is set for 10 a.m. at the college, 1001 Birdwell Lane. The organization said the event marks a milestone in its efforts to expand access to skilled trades training in the Permian Basin.

The four-week electrical training program began Oct. 5 at Howard College. A Sept. 10 ribbon-cutting marked the partnership between Skillpoint Alliance and the college and the return of electrical workforce training to Big Spring. According to the organization, participants have built foundational electrical skills through hands-on instruction.

Skillpoint Alliance Permian Basin Site Director Maria Delgadillo said in a news release that the class shows opportunity can change lives. "Through our partnership with Howard College, we are empowering local residents with the skills to build meaningful careers while helping meet the Permian Basin's workforce needs," she said.
