One person was killed and another was injured in a head-on collision between an SUV and a pickup on Thursday evening in Carson County. The crash happened about 5:16 p.m. at State Highway 207 and County Road 6.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2007 Kia Sportage driven by Suzen Dlee Watkins, 64, of Panhandle, was traveling north on State Highway 207. A 2019 Ford F-150 driven by Shawn Michael Woodard, 45, of Amarillo, was traveling south. DPS said the SUV tried to turn left onto County Road 6 and entered the pickup's path, causing the collision.
Watkins was taken to an Amarillo hospital, where she later died of her injuries. Woodard had minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene.
