In March 2022, a church's ladies leadership team started discipleship groups for women. Before launching them, the team read "Disciple Her" by Kandi Gallaty. The church said it began with five groups of fewer than five women each. Each participant made a one-year commitment.
The groups meet at least twice a month to read books approved by the church's elders, pray, encourage one another and hold each other accountable. The church said it has seen women grow in their faith, live out Scripture in their marriages and homes, and build relationships with other women in the church.
The church said it did not plan well for multiplication, meaning women in the groups going on to disciple others. After members attended the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention's Women's Ministry Leadership Summit, which focused on evangelism and discipleship, the leadership team asked whether the groups were making disciples who could make other disciples.
