The two Weslaco firefighters who died Wednesday have been identified as Lt. Juan "Johnny" Peña, 43, and Julia Divine Rocha, 21. Justice of the Peace Gilberto Saenz said in response to a Texas Public Information Act request that Peña and Rocha were pronounced dead at 8:30 a.m. and 8:47 a.m. They had been taken to Knapp Medical Center after being found unresponsive at 7:46 a.m.

According to a release, autopsy results are pending to determine the circumstances of their deaths. Peña had served with the Weslaco Fire Department for 19 years, according to his obituary. Rocha was the department's first hired female firefighter, according to a post on the fire department's Facebook page. The post said she passed the same written and agility tests as other recruits.

The Weslaco Police Department said it will continue to investigate what it described as an "off-duty incident."
