2nd & Charles plans to open a store in Plano, its first in North Texas, with a scheduled opening date of Dec. 10. The store will be at 1601 Preston Road, Suite H. The 25,000-square-foot location is expected to create 30 jobs, according to Scott Kappler, the company's executive vice president of operations.

Along with used books, the store will buy, sell and trade video games, consoles, movies, CDs, toys and collectibles. Customers can receive cash or store credit for items they trade, Kappler said. In an email, he said the trade model keeps prices affordable and is meant to be a place for readers, gamers, collectors and families.

2nd & Charles currently operates three other stores in Texas, in Beaumont, Lubbock and Conroe. Kappler said the Dallas–Fort Worth area has a strong interest in books, entertainment and pop culture, and that the company sees Plano as a first step in North Texas.
