Some North Texas voters reported long lines at polling places as voting got underway in the 2026 midterm elections. Some Tarrant County voters told NBC 5 DFW they waited an hour or longer, and others said they waited more than two hours. Voter Randy Aguylar said he did not want to wait an hour in line but planned to vote anyway.

Voters in several North Texas counties can check estimated polling place wait times online before going to vote. NBC 5 DFW reported that the estimates may not always match actual conditions. Tarrant County told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that election workers were instructed to update wait times more often after some voters reported waiting longer than the online estimates.

Voting rules vary by county. During early voting, registered voters can cast a ballot at any early voting location in their county of registration. On Election Day, Tarrant, Dallas and Collin counties allow voters to use countywide polling places, while Denton County requires voters to use the polling place assigned to them.
