The Sam Houston State University Russell & Glenda Gordy College of Osteopathic Medicine in Conroe earned four top national rankings, according to annual reports recently released by the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners. The rankings cover all three levels of the COMLEX-USA board exams. The college's Level 2-CE first-time pass rate rose from No. 22 to No. 1 nationally.
The class of 2027 ranked second nationally on the Level 1 first-time pass rate, at 97.26%. The class of 2026 ranked first on the Level 2-CE first-time pass rate, at 98.55%, and third on the Level 2-CE mean score, at 551.71. Graduates from the class of 2025 tied for first on the Level 3 first-time pass rate, at 100%. The college is one of four schools nationwide to reach that result. The Level 1 and Level 2-CE results cover the 2025-26 testing cycles, and the Level 3 results cover the 2025 calendar year.
Thomas J. Mohr, DO, dean of the college and vice president for medical affairs at SHSU, said the rankings are "truly amazing." "We push our student doctors hard, and our curriculum is challenging, but SHSU-GCOM student doctors continue to set the bar high," he said. The college welcomed its first class in 2020.
