Democrats James Talarico and Gina Hinojosa celebrated their wins early Wednesday morning with a stop at an Austin Whataburger. Talarico defeated Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton in the U.S. Senate race, and Hinojosa defeated three-term Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, according to the report.
The report said Hinojosa is Texas' first Latina governor and the first Democrat elected to the office since Ann Richards in 1990. Supporters, campaign staff and cameras greeted the two at the restaurant. Newly elected Texas Comptroller Sarah Eckhardt also joined the gathering.
Talarico posted a photo on Instagram of the two raising Whataburger cups in a toast, writing, "First stop post-win: Whataburger." Hinojosa shared a video of her own, writing, "We did it," and tagging Talarico.
