Amarillo police arrested Laurah Jean Koenig, 48, on a charge of collision involving personal injury or death. She was booked into the Randall County Jail. Police said the crash happened Wednesday night in the 4100 block of Bell Street.
Police said a white Dodge Ram hit a pedestrian crossing Bell Street. The Ram's driver got out to check on the pedestrian. Police said a dark-colored GMC Sierra then struck the driver and the pedestrian and fled the scene. The pedestrian died at the scene. The Ram's driver was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers found and arrested Koenig a short time later. A judge ordered an autopsy. As of Wednesday night, the pedestrian's next of kin had not been notified.
