Republican U.S. Senate nominee Ken Paxton appeared to scrap a planned final rally at the Alamo, which had been set for two days before Election Day. The campaign had earlier said its "Come and Take It" bus tour would end at the landmark. Instead, the campaign added events on Monday in Conroe, at 11 a.m., and in Allen, at 5:30 p.m., at a restaurant. The campaign did not immediately respond to questions about the change.

The Alamo Trust, which oversees the landmark, told Texas Public Radio on Friday that it was unaware of any plans for Paxton to host an event on the grounds. The Alamo's rules generally prohibit political events there. Paxton's campaign also previously did not respond to requests for logistical details about an Alamo event.

Paxton is in a close race with Democrat James Talarico. Paxton's final push also included other canceled or rescheduled events, including in El Paso, Tyler, Texarkana and Mission. Democrats called it a "Paxton bus tour crashout."

In a statement Friday, Talarico said, "No one's going to Ken Paxton's rallies, so he's canceling them and hoping Elon Musk will buy this seat for him." He referred to more than $200 million Musk has spent in the race on Paxton's behalf.
