Early voting for the midterm elections begins Monday in Trinity County, according to the Trinity County News-Standard. Most local races were decided in the March primary and May runoff.

In Apple Springs, voters are being asked to continue a tax that helps fund maintenance and operations. The paper reported that the tax already is in place and that it will bring in more money only because property values have risen. Four at-large seats on the Apple Springs ISD school board are also up. Five people filed: incumbents Tonya Odom, Jenny Sanders, Daniel Murray and Amanda Roden, and Melissa Cavazos. Voters may choose up to four, and the top four will be seated. Westwood Shores voters will choose up to two members of the Municipal Utility District from Rick Renfro, Peter Black and Edward Charles Frye.

Statewide, the U.S. Senate race has Republican Ken Paxton, who defeated John Cornyn in the primary, facing Democrat James Talarico. In the newly drawn District 10, Republican Chris Gober faces Democrat Caitlin Rourk and Libertarian Ted Brown to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul. Incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott is challenged by Democrat Gina Hinojosa and Libertarian Pat Dixon. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick faces Democrat Vikki Goodwin, Libertarian Anthony Cristo and Green Party candidate Kevin McCormick. Other statewide offices, including attorney general, comptroller, land commissioner and agriculture commissioner, are also on the ballot.
