Children's Health reported a rise in flu cases across North Texas, and healthcare systems from Dallas to Fort Worth have also reported more cases. The agency said it recorded roughly 100 flu cases in the first week of October and 136 the following week.
Dr. Zachary Stone, a pediatrician at Children's Health, said the symptoms in recent cases stood out to him. "We're seeing very high fevers; we're seeing a lot of fatigue," he said. Stone said he expects cases to keep rising and urged people to get flu shots before holiday gatherings and colder weather.
Stone also addressed the belief that the flu shot can cause the flu. He said the shot is an inactive vaccine and cannot give someone the flu.
