Wreaths Across America is asking for volunteers to place flags at the Aggie Field of Honor and Memorial Cemetery near Easterwood Airport in College Station on Saturday, ahead of Veterans Day.
Ellen Fuller with Wreaths Across America said the group works with Mary Shearer of the Daughters of the American Revolution, who maintains a database of 6,000 veteran graves across Brazos County. Organizers are also using information from Find a Grave to help volunteers locate individual graves.
Volunteers will receive 10 laminated sheets with photos of veterans, images of their headstones and mini maps, along with bundles of 10 flags. Fuller said the goal is to make veterans' graves easier to find and to put a face to each grave.
The event begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Preregistration is not required. Tools, water and clementines will be provided on site.
