The Odessa High volleyball team has qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2010. The Lady Bronchos will play El Paso Franklin in the bi-district round at 5 p.m. Thursday at OHS Fieldhouse. Head coach Cody Dominguez said the team is preparing for the new experience and expects a good turnout.
Odessa High finished the regular season at 19-16 overall and 5-3 in District 2-6A. The team earlier beat Midland Lee and Permian and closed the season with a 3-1 win over San Angelo Central. Franklin, from District 1-6A, went 23-15 overall and 7-5 in district play.
Dominguez said the team expects a tough game and plans to spend the week preparing. In its most recent win, a victory over San Angelo Central, Odessa High won the sets 25-22, 27-25, 25-16 and 25-20. Dominguez said the team is "getting hot at the right moments."
