Lampasas runners Cohen Watson and Hadlee McCorkle each finished seventh at the District 25-4A meet, which advanced them to the Region IV-4A meet. Neither qualified for the University Interscholastic League state championship. Competitors needed to place among the top 10 individuals not on an advancing team. McCorkle, a freshman, finished 49th and Watson, a junior, finished 68th. The story says both are eligible to return next year.
McCorkle ran the 3,200 meters at Corpus Christi's Dugan Stadium in 12 minutes, 15.64 seconds. Watson ran 5 kilometers in 18:06.53.
In the boys division, San Antonio Great Hearts Northern Oaks won the team title with 129 points. Floresville was second with 138 and Corpus Christi Tuloso-Midway was third with 140. Floresville's Kaden Cypert won the individual title in 15:36.41.
