Two teenagers were seriously injured in a shooting at a Halloween party in the Tidehaven area of Matagorda County early Sunday, the Matagorda County Sheriff's Office said. The area is between Bay City and Palacios.

Investigators said a group of teenagers from Bay City arrived during the party and a fight broke out inside a barn on the property. Large groups of teens then began leaving. As they left, a 17-year-old Bay City suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and fired into the crowd, officials said. A 16-year-old and a 19-year-old were hit by gunfire.

Friends of the victims pulled them to safety and took them to Matagorda Regional Hospital. Both are expected to recover. The suspect faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and the sheriff's office is searching for him. Anyone with information about the shooting or the suspect's whereabouts is asked to call Sgt. Robert Pierce or Sgt. Keith Majors at 979-245-5526.
