Early results as of 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Tarrant County Elections site, show Rebecca Hardy, Ambika Sharma and John Adams leading in the races for the three at-large seats on the Tarrant Appraisal District board. Nine challengers and one incumbent, Matt Bryant, are also running. Early returns show Bryant behind Adams.
Most candidates favor returning to annual residential reappraisals instead of the biennial policy the board passed in 2024 and renewed in September. The board could revisit the policy in 2028. Gov. Greg Abbott has proposed reappraising all properties once every five years as part of a five-point property tax plan that the Texas Legislature will consider in its 2027 session.
Critics of biennial reappraisal have said some properties have been frozen at appraisals that are too high. The board voted 5-4 to keep biennial reappraisals, and two of the five members who voted for the policy are not seeking reelection. Candidates agree that the board's legal duty is to make sure appraisals are accurate.
