A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the January 2023 killing of 19-year-old Treasure Burton in Houston. Court testimony said Burton was celebrating her birthday when she met Ivan Livingston and a friend of his. Livingston pleaded guilty to manslaughter, and records show he received credit for 1.5 years toward the sentence. The report said he could be considered for parole in about three years.

Burton's mother, Danielle Burton, told FOX 26 that 10 years is not enough. She said her daughter was shot in the heart while sitting in the sunroof of her car. She also said the judge did not seem to listen and that Livingston was caught in several lies. She said the judge told her Livingston showed remorse, which the judge cited in setting the sentence.

Livingston faced a maximum sentence of 20 years. The sentence was handed down by 262nd Criminal District Court Judge Lori Chambers Gray.
