Blinn College received more than 3,400 applications during Texas Free College Application Week, according to a news release from the college. The release said applications to Blinn are always free and that many students are choosing to apply and attend because of the college's low costs. Vice Chancellor for Student Services Becky McBride said Blinn offers affordable pathways for students who plan to transfer to a university, pursue a career or earn a professional credential.

The release said students are likely to save 52% on tuition compared with attending a four-year public university. The college also offers more than 350 merit- and need-based scholarships. Blinn's main campus is in Brenham, and the college offers classes in Schulenburg, Sealy, Waller and at the Texas A&M-RELLIS campus. The college's largest campus by population is in Bryan.

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board reported 402,583 applications statewide in 2026, an increase of nearly 47% from 2025. Texas Higher Education Commissioner Wynn Rosser said the program gives students a good way to start their higher education.
