The UTPB men's basketball team begins its 2026-27 season with a mostly new roster. The Falcons went 10-18 last year, the team's first losing record in three years. They are aiming for a Lone Star Conference Tournament appearance for the first time since 2022.
Only three players are back: guards Tristan Lewis, Brady Watson and Diego Rodriguez. UTPB head coach Kyle Tolin said all three have improved. Tolin, who is in his sixth year as head coach, said he made changes to the roster and coaching staff after evaluating himself following the 2025-26 season.
Tolin said the team has been together for a while and had most of its players on campus over the summer. "I like our group so far," he said. The Falcons open against University of the Southwest (N.M.) at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Falcon Dome.
