A line of strong to severe thunderstorms could bring damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes to North Texas Monday night, the National Weather Service in Fort Worth said. The strongest storms are expected to reach the Interstate 35 corridor around 11 p.m.
The storms could affect overnight travel before the November 3 general election. Forecasters expect the line to move east and largely leave North and Central Texas by about 8 a.m. Tuesday, though timing may change. Heavy rain could accompany some storms, but forecasters said the fast movement should keep the flash-flood threat low.
The Weather Service said its forecast does not establish that any polling place will close or that election operations will be disrupted. By Tuesday afternoon, clearer skies and breezy northwest winds are expected, with temperatures in the lower to middle 70s. Residents were advised to have a reliable way to receive overnight weather warnings and to check updated forecasts before traveling. As of 6 a.m. Monday, the agency had issued no watches, warnings or advisories.
