Gov. Greg Abbott will watch Election Day results with supporters at a watch party in Austin on Tuesday night. Abbott, the Republican nominee, is running against Democrat Gina Hinojosa.
Abbott was first elected governor in 2014 and took office in January 2015. He is serving his third term after winning reelection in 2022. If he wins again, he would serve a fourth term. Before becoming governor, he served as Texas attorney general, a justice on the Texas Supreme Court and a district judge in Harris County.
Polls across Texas are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. CBS Austin said it will provide updates as results come in and will have reaction from Abbott and supporters.
