A former McKinney ISD athletic trainer will serve five years in prison after pleading guilty to sexual assault of a child, according to the Collin County District Attorney's Office. A Collin County jury sentenced Lindsey Post, 35, this week. Post, who worked at McKinney North High School, also pleaded guilty to an improper relationship between an educator and a student. She must register as a sex offender for life.
Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis said Post used her position as a high school athletic trainer to sexually assault a student she was treating. "Adults who abuse the trust placed in them by students will be held accountable," Willis said.
McKinney police arrested Post in January 2026. An arrest affidavit said the victim's father found sexually explicit messages on the girl's phone. The affidavit said the girl later reported multiple incidents of sexual activity in Post's vehicle in a neighborhood. Police said Post violated the conditions of her bond by speaking with the victim by phone while out of jail.
A lawsuit filed by the victim's parents against McKinney ISD alleges the abuse occurred between November 2025 and January 2026. The lawsuit says the district failed the victim in part by creating conditions that allowed the student to be alone with Post, including not providing a bus to a school event on the day of the first documented assault.
