The Eagle Pass Port of Entry, part of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, hosted a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on September 11, 2026. The event was held on the steps of the Camino Real International Bridge in Eagle Pass, Texas, and began at 7:15 a.m. Port Director Pete Beattie led the port's operations, and the event honored the 25th anniversary of the attacks.
Deputy Port Director Pete Macias served as master of ceremonies and welcomed more than 300 guests. CBP Officer Jose Jimenez gave the invocation. Guests on the dais included Mexican Consul Vivian Juarez Mondragon, Mayor Aaron Valdez, City Council members Billy Davis and Jessica Rey Ramon, Sheriff Tom Schmerber, and a representative of State Representative Eddie Morales. Macias sang the national anthem.
Beattie gave a short history of the attacks and the creation of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He said the ceremony honored the liberty, honor and integrity of those who died and of those who continue to serve. The crowd observed a moment of silence. During the ceremony, the CBP Color Guard lowered the U.S. flag at the port while CBP Officer Jose Regalado played Taps. The guard then presented a new flag to Beattie.
