Republican Brandon Herrera has conceded to Democrat Katy Padilla Stout in the race for Texas's 23rd Congressional District. As of 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, with 79% of votes counted, Padilla Stout led with 52% of the vote, according to the reporting.

The general election was held Nov. 3, 2026, to fill a seat that had been vacant since former U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales resigned on April 14. The district stretches from the San Antonio area west to El Paso and covers a large portion of the U.S.-Mexico border.

Three candidates appeared on the ballot: Herrera, Padilla Stout and independent Ben Mendoza. Padilla Stout won the Democratic primary in March. Herrera and Gonzales finished first and second in the Republican primary, and Gonzales later withdrew before the scheduled runoff, leaving Herrera as the Republican nominee.
