The Boys and Girls Clubs of Deep East Texas run a Texas ACE afterschool program at the former Woodville Intermediate School campus on Charlton Street in Woodville. ACE stands for Afterschool Centers on Education. The program serves students in first through fifth grades and uses the old Woodville ISD Intermediate multi-purpose building.
Jose Vazquez, of the Boys and Girls Clubs' Nacogdoches headquarters, said students can get help with homework, explore new interests and take part in activities each day. He said the program also offers academic support, creative arts, STEM activities, sports and recreation, and leadership opportunities. The program is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education's 21st Century Community Learning Centers program.
Registration is free for all Woodville Elementary students. Families can sign up online through the Boys and Girls Clubs of Deep East Texas website.
