The Plano ISD board of trustees unanimously approved declaring two properties surplus during its Oct. 27 work session. The board had tabled the item in early October.

The first property is two suites in the Pebble Creek Professional Building on Coit Road near Pebblecreek Court. According to district documents, the district bought it for $1.75 million in 2005. The suites were most recently used as temporary offices for about 20 staff members. Johnny Hill, the district's deputy superintendent for business, employee services and technology, said at the Oct. 6 meeting that the district has room to house those staff at other facilities.

The second property is a 9.96-acre tract at the northeast corner of Coit Road and Frankford Road. District officials bought it for nearly $5.21 million in 2015, and according to district documents it remains undeveloped.

The surplus declaration is the first step toward a possible sale. Trustees will have to approve any sale, and the district could hire a real estate broker for the transaction.
