Hays County voters will choose candidates for local, state and federal offices on Election Day. Polls are open until 7 p.m., and voters still in line at that time will be able to cast a ballot. Early voting totals will be reported first after polls close, with other results updated through the night. Some races may not be decided until Wednesday morning, local and state election authorities said.
In U.S. Congressional District 21, Democrat Kristin Hook and Republican Mark Teixeira are running to replace Republican Chip Roy, who is leaving the seat to run for Texas attorney general. Because of redistricting by state lawmakers in 2025, this is the first general election in which parts of Hays County are in Congressional District 27, where Republican Michael Cloud faces Democrat Tanya Lloyd.
In Texas House District 45, Democrat Erin Zwiener is being challenged by Republican Tennyson Moreno. The race for Hays County judge is the first since 2018 to choose a new county judge. Democrat Michelle Gutierrez Cohen, Republican Geoffrey Tahuahua and independent Liz Gajdos are running.
