Mac McIntosh, owner of Small Talk Coffee Co. in Amarillo, has worked in coffee since 2018. McIntosh worked at several coffee shops before taking over the Roast and Toast space on the first floor of the First Bank Southwest Tower at 600 S Tyler St. McIntosh bought the shop from its previous owners and rebranded it as Small Talk in 2025.
McIntosh said a new fall menu is developed each year and includes a dessert-inspired coffee drink. McIntosh said pumpkin-flavored drinks are a must-have each fall, but customers also enjoy coffee versions of sweet treats. This year's menu includes pumpkin pie, maple sea salt and red velvet lattes, and a Mayan hot chocolate.
McIntosh said the red velvet drink was inspired by a beverage seen on social media while looking at coffee shops around the world. McIntosh said social media has helped make fall drinks popular. McIntosh also said the fall look of warm sweaters and cozy nights is not always possible in the Texas heat, so a fall drink offers a way to get the cozy feeling.
