The Eagle Pass Police Department said in a media release dated Oct. 27, 2026, that a 14-year-old boy was remanded to a juvenile detention facility. The action followed a social media post that reportedly referenced a terroristic threat involving Eagle Pass Junior High School. Police said a concerned parent reported the post.

Police said investigators opened an investigation to identify the person who made the post and to assess the potential threat to students and staff. Officers identified the individual and obtained a residential address, the release said. The juvenile was detained and taken to the police department, where the Juvenile Probation Department responded. Police said the juvenile was then remanded to a detention facility.

The department said it takes all threats involving schools seriously. It said posts that depict firearms or refer to violence against schools, whether meant as a joke or not, can cause fear and disruption in the community. "Threatening behavior of this nature will not be tolerated," police said, adding that the department will continue to investigate reported threats.
