The Rice Raiders football team may have to forfeit some games this season, according to the Colorado County Citizen. The University Interscholastic League (UIL) is reviewing several of the team's district games for eligibility criteria after ineligibility accusations.
The Raiders are appealing the UIL's decision, and a ruling on the appeal is pending. The Colorado County Citizen reported that if the appeal succeeds, the Raiders would keep second place in the district standings. If the UIL's initial decision stands, the team would be knocked out of the playoffs.
The Raiders have one more district game scheduled, on Friday, Nov. 6, against Van Vleck at Van Vleck High School. The Raiders' head coach and representatives of Rice Consolidated High School were unavailable for comment.
