The Whitehouse ISD Education Foundation surprised 37 district teachers with grants for special classroom projects on Monday. The grants total $93,000.

Chad Hutchins, vice president of grants for the foundation, said the money covers projects that may not be funded through the district. He said the foundation aims to fund new, creative and innovative projects with help from community partners and donors.

The foundation's Surprise Patrol delivered the news in person. The group included members of Whitehouse's drumline, First Ladies and cheerleaders, among others. It visited teachers at all seven district campuses.
