The Texas Attorney General's Office says it arrested multiple convicted felons in the Houston area who are accused of voting illegally in the midterm election. The office said it acted after a citizen tip alleged that people who were incarcerated, on parole or on probation cast ballots in Harris County.
The office's Election Integrity Unit reviewed the individuals' voter registration records and checked whether they voted in the 2026 election after verifying their identities. Investigators contacted the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, which confirmed that multiple people were on parole when they voted. According to officials, that made them ineligible under Texas law.
Arrest warrants were issued Friday in Montgomery County for those identified so far in the investigation. Officers with the Attorney General's Office made the arrests. The office has not confirmed the identities of those arrested.
